The Health Benefits of Cold Showers & Baths
Well, I honestly LOVE warm showers and baths. I don’t think there is anything else more relaxing and soothing for the body, and since I get cold easily, I love the warmth. However, I have also always loved the refreshing feeling after a dip in a cold ocean (well, I have grown up in Sweden so I kind of didn’t have a choice but to like it haha), and since there are many health benefits with cold baths, I have just started a new routine of ending every shower with cold water. At the moment, I can’t handle more than a little less than a minute, but maybe I will get use to it and be able to do it longer soon.
Some of the benefits with cold showers are:
- Increased circulation in the body
- Shinier hair
- Reduce stress
- Wakes you up and gives you a boost of energy
- Increased level of alertness
- Reducing muscle soreness post workout
- Glowing skin
- Can help improve metabolism
- Helps you to breathe deeper
I have also heard of people who have experienced a better immune system thanks to cold showers, but have also heard that you should avoid if if you have skin problems, such as eczema (so I will be a bit careful with it and see how it feels after a while since I have a very dry skin).
